safeguarding & E-safety

Fishbourne Church of England Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do at Fishbourne CE Primary and is an essential part of the role of our school. Fishbourne Church of England Primary School is committed to safeguarding. We expect all those adults working and volunteering in the school to share this commitment.

We ensure that all adults, including supply staff, volunteers and contractors, within our school who have access to children have been recruited and checked as to their suitability in accordance with Part 3 of Keeping Children Safe in Education.

As a result, we insist that all adults who are involved within our school in any kind of voluntary capacity have a DBS check. This includes:

*members of our volunteer army,

*governors,

*members of fundraising committees (e.g. FOFS*, the fete committee) *helpers at school events, including school trips.

We provide annual safeguarding training for regular volunteers.

The school will process requests for DBS certificates. In order to do so we require several pieces of identification. Please see overleaf for details or refer to the guidelines in the website below:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/dbs-identity-checking-guidelines/id-checking-guidelines-for-standardenhanced-dbs-check-applications-from-1-july-2021

We encourage you to put in this DBS request if you think you are likely to want to volunteer in any capacity in the future.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
