Railway Safety

Fishbourne CE Primary is next to the railway line. We hear the level crossing alarm regularly and the trains hurtle past the fence. For the children at Fishbourne, the sight and sound of the railway line is a normal part of the school day and they very quickly get used to it! We have a large fence along the boundary with Network Rail which keeps all our children safe and sound. Most of our children live in the village and therefore cross the track on a regular basis, whether that is when they are in the car or on foot.  We recently shared with the children in school a safety video which was provided for us by Network Rail.

You can watch the film here:

Here is a summary of what was learnt as a result of watching written for our website by one of our children, Sophie, in Tiger Class:

Do not mess around on the rails. It is risky. Your whole life depends on it. If you are on the railway track, there is a 99% chance you will be killed. The rails are electric.
If you are found TRESPASSING on the railway track, your parents could be fined £1000.

Would you cost your life on the rails? Think again – so STOP, LOOK, LISTEN and LIVE.
